[NEST Users] Tips for getting a scaled-down version of the Allen Brain V1 model to work using NEST/Sonata/BMTK?

I am just wondering if anyone in the Nest community has any tips for running the Allen Brain V1 model?

I have been busy trying to get the model to work with PyGeNN and even Julia. It occurred to me that I should probably start with what has been known to work, ie Nest.
